“Anubis – Egyptian Lord of the Dead” – Another overdue image, a new painting for Anubis! The jackal-headed deity is shown here holding a human heart and the stylized ostrich feather known as the Feather of Ma’at. In Ancient Egyptian papyrus paintings and tomb carvings, Anubis is frequently depicted as overseeing the ceremony of the Weighing of the Heart – which determines whether a soul is allowed to enter the realm of the dead.
